50 years a Rotarian in Church Stretton Rotary

Frank Keighley’s remarkable achievement of serving Church Stretton Rotary for over 50 years.

In September Church Stretton Rotary held a dinner to celebrate in September.

He is the first and probably the last to achieve this milestone.

His wife, Margaret, was also thanked for all her support and being the source of inspiration for Frank to carry out his wonderful work.

Now the first question to ask Frank is why someone who has never lived in Church Stretton should spend 50 years in our Club.

Well Frank originally worked for the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAFE) and after that for NFU Mutual and his area of work was South Shropshire. Church Stretton was a lunch time club so it made sense to join a club where he worked.

Frank was our treasurer for over 30 years and was famous for being very precise with the figures.

He also received Paul Harris awards in 2012 and 2018 for his excellent efforts for Rotary and was Club President in 1982.

After he retired he also joined the Samaritans for something like 20 years.
