Church Stretton Rotary is a Service Club, whose members do volunteer and charity work to benefit local communities and also address global issues like eradicating polio. Rotary is also a way of meeting new people and enjoying fun social activities.

Being formally interviewed is a daunting task, more so for a young person who has never had the experience. To help school leavers at Church Stretton School, Church Stretton Rotary has for many years carried out mock interviews to give the students an opportunity to prepare for a real interview.
It was a chilly day but we learned lots about our feathered friends.
O the 5th Wednesday of January Rotarians and Friends of Church Stretton Rotary were delighted to have a exclusive visit to the Battlefield Bird of Prey Centre north of Shrewsbury.
In an open garden area and saw a number of different varieties of owls flying between perches and people.
They seemed happy being watched and held but really appreciated the chicken pieces as payment for their performance in front of us.
Manager Lisa Scattergood told us that they’re born in captivity, so are quite used to humans being around for their whole lives. One was over 14 years old.
Lunch in the nearby cafe and visiting the shop was very enjoyable too.
Church Stretton community gave to needy children at Christmas.
In December the Coop, Rotary and the Foodbank in the town passed on donated toys to local families who would be having a tough time at Christmas 2023.

Frank Keighley’s remarkable achievement of serving Church Stretton Rotary for over 50 years. In September Church Stretton Rotary held a dinner to celebrate in September.
He is the first and probably the last to achieve this milestone.

The event raised over £450 with the funds going towards Church Stretton Rotary sponsoring two local young people allowing them to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Course next year.
Rotary at Church Stretton’s FunDay
Church Stretton Rotary were at the 2nd annual FunDay, managing the main gate, distributing programs, manning events and explaining what delights the 2,500+ visitors could enjoy. We were also part of the new volunteer and community area with 16 groups represented, where our new President Pat Stokes-Smith was pressing the flesh, explaining how Rotary contributes to the local community and talking to potential new members. The highlight for many visitors was the helicopter from RAF Shawbury.
Church Stretton’s new President receives her chain of office
Church Stretton has inducted Pat Stokes-Smith as President for 2023 – 2024. Pat is the first lady to become President of Church Stretton Rotary. Ella McFarlane receives Church Stretton Rotary Young Heroes Award 2023
Ella Mc Farlane was presented with her awards from John Mckenzie of Central Garage, sponsors of Church Stretton Rotary Young Heroes Award 2023, Lynwen Gott who nominated Ella and Church Stretton Club President Graham Shackleton.
Ella raised over £1100 by making and selling heart shaped key fobs in support of the Red Cross Ukrainian Appeal. Read More
